During 2005-2015 was the Proton Therapy in full action with a constant flow of patients. They were running mostly daytime and had some setup time in between patients. This setup time and time during evenings and nights was used for physics experiments and commercial neutron and proton irradiation projects.
In 2005 were the last physics experiments in the CELSIUS ring run. Then the ring was closed down and decommissioned.
In 2015 the Proton Therapy moved to a new facility in Uppsala, the SKANDION clinic. The main activity at TSL became to deliver beams for commercial neutron and proton irradiation projects.
In June 2016 all irradiation projects ended and the accelerator and irradiation facilities closed down. Decommission of parts of the plant has started. For example is the Radio chemistry well on its way through decommission.
